Absolutely. Royal St David’s, Aberdovey and Porthmadog represent championship links golf at a fraction of the cost and crowds of comparable Scottish or Irish destinations. Green fees are competitive compared with equivalent courses in Scotland and Ireland. The courses are unhurried, the scenery is spectacular and the driving distance from most of England is significantly shorter than a trip to Scotland or Ireland. North Wales is one of the UK’s most overlooked golf break destinations.
The Belmont Barmouth sleeps up to 18 guests across nine individually styled bedrooms, making it one of the largest single luxury properties available for group stays in North Wales. The property works equally well for smaller golf groups — whether you’re a group of 8, 10, 12 or the full 18, the whole house is exclusively yours throughout the stay.
Spring and autumn offer the best combination of quieter courses and reliable enough weather for links golf. The courses around Barmouth — particularly Royal St David’s and Aberdovey — are links layouts that play well year-round, though summer brings the longest days and the warmest conditions if the group also wants to combine golf with time on Barmouth beach or the Wales Coast Path.
Yes. There is parking for three cars directly outside the property on Marine Parade, with additional free on-street parking nearby and a pay and display car park less than a minute’s walk away.
Yes — in two ways. The Belmont Barmouth has a large fully equipped self-catering kitchen and dining room where the whole group can sit down together before heading out. Alternatively, several independent cafes and restaurants are within a few minutes walk of the property for groups who prefer to eat out. Either way, an early departure is straightforward without waiting for a hotel breakfast service.
A shoe dryer is available upon request — particularly useful after a day on the links in coastal Welsh weather. Please mention this when booking and we will ensure it is in place for your arrival.
Yes. The property has a large hallway area suitable for storing golf bags and trolleys securely between rounds. This is one of the practical advantages of staying in a whole house rather than a hotel — there is no need to return bags to a shared boot room or leave equipment in vehicles overnight.
Royal St David’s Golf Club in Harlech is approximately 20 minutes from The Belmont Barmouth along the A496 coast road. The same road connects the property directly to Porthmadog Golf Club to the north in around 40 minutes, and Aberdovey Golf Club to the south in around 50 minutes. Fairbourne Golf Club is 30 minutes away.

Yes — one of the advantages of staying on Marine Parade is that Barmouth’s restaurants, cafes and pubs are all easily accessible on foot from the property. After a full day on the Wales Coast Path, there’s no need to drive or arrange transport for the evening. The town offers a good mix of independent seafood restaurants, traditional Welsh pubs and relaxed cafes, all within a short stroll of The Belmont Barmouth.
For groups who prefer to eat in, the large dining space comfortably accommodates everyone together, making it easy to combine evenings out in town with shared meals back at the property
Yes. One of the practical advantages of Barmouth as a base is the range of walking options available within easy reach, from shorter coastal and estuary routes to longer days on the coast path or hill walks toward Eryri National Park. Groups where members have different fitness levels or walking preferences can comfortably plan different days without anyone being left without a good option. Non-walkers have independent access to the beach, town, shops and restaurants directly from the property.
Walking groups most commonly visit in spring and autumn — typically March to May and September to November. Cooler temperatures make longer days on the coast path more comfortable, the beaches are quieter, and availability at The Belmont Barmouth is generally better than during peak summer weeks. Summer (June to August) suits groups wanting to combine walking with beach days and watersports, and the town’s full range of restaurants, cafes and seasonal activities are open throughout. The Wales Coast Path around Barmouth can be walked year-round, though winter days are shorter and some local facilities operate reduced hours.
No — and this is one of the reasons Barmouth works so well for walking groups. The Wales Coast Path passes directly through the town, so there is no need to drive to a trailhead. For linear walks where groups want to cover a section without retracing steps, the Cambrian Coast Line provides direct train connections to and from stations along the path including Llanaber, Tal-y-bont, Harlech and Fairbourne. This makes multi-day walking itineraries genuinely manageable from a single base without anyone needing to act as a dedicated driver.
From Barmouth, groups can walk the coast path northward along the Llanaber coastal stretch toward Tal-y-bont and Harlech, or southward across Barmouth Bridge into the Mawddach Estuary section toward Fairbourne and Llwyngwril. The Mawddach Trail — around ten miles between Barmouth and Dolgellau — is also accessible directly from the property and combines naturally with coast path itineraries. Day walks typically range from three to fourteen miles depending on the section chosen and the group’s experience level.
The Belmont Barmouth sleeps up to 18 guests across nine bedrooms, making it one of the largest single luxury self catering properties for group stays in Barmouth, North Wales. The property is available on an exclusive-use basis, so the whole house-including the dining space, lounge, cinema room and games room – belongs to your group throughout the stay.
Yes- Barmouth is one of the best positioned bases on the entire Snowdonia section of the Wales Coast Path. The path runs directly through the town’s seafront and promenade, meaning access to the route requires no driving or transport from your accommodation. The Cambrian Coast Line also runs through Barmouth station, which makes linear walks – walk out in one direction , return by train- straightforward to plan without vehicle logistics.
For groups, staying at The Belmont Barmouth, this combination of direct path access and rail connections is genuinly difficult to replicate elsewhere on this section.
